Manchester's reputation as one of the happening cities in Europe is not disputed and as such you would expect to find lots of places to visit, shop, eat or party in, well you won't be disappointed. Whether you are here to enjoy Manchester's industrial heritage or to take in the hip culture on offer, or simply want to spend a weekend shopping and relaxing, you will find plenty to see and do. The city has over 90 museums, many of which are free, including the City Art Gallery, the Lowry Centre and our very own Whitworth Art Gallery.

You will be spoilt for choice for places to eat and drink. From the Curry Mile to Chinatown, award-winning restaurants and cafe culture, there is something to suit everyone's taste and budget.

Manchester is a haven for shoppers with the city centre Arndale Centre's high street names, to King Street's designer shops and the Trafford Centre on the outskirts of the city.

Sport plays an important role in the city with world-class sporting facilities, such as the City of Manchester Stadium, home to Manchester City football club, built for the Commonwealth Games held here in 2002, and Old Trafford, the home of their Premiership rivals Manchester United. The National Cycling Centre and Aquatics Centre are also based in the city.
